Privacy policy.

1. Who we are

This policy explains how JSON Query, developed by Satish Mahalingam (“we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information. For privacy questions, contact satish@satishmaha.com.

2. Information the app does not collect

We do not collect personal information through the app. JSON Query does not use advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or tracking SDKs to monitor your activity, and does not sell or rent your information.

3. Local documents and queries

Your JSON documents are stored locally on your Mac. Built-in jq processes queries locally. You control your local documents and any copies or exports you create. We do not receive your full JSON documents as part of query generation.

4. Optional plain-English query generation

If you choose to generate a jq filter using plain English, the app requires an internet connection and sends your natural-language request together with an automatically generated schema describing your JSON structure for processing. The full JSON document is not sent.

This processing is separate from local document storage. A schema can reveal field names and structural information, and anything you type in your request is included in that request. Avoid including secrets or personal information in prompts or field names. You can use built-in jq without using this optional feature.

5. Apple and purchases

Downloads and purchases are handled by Apple through the Mac App Store. Information Apple handles is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy and applicable App Store terms.

6. Support correspondence

If you contact us, we receive the email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to respond to your request and resolve the issue. Please do not send sensitive JSON documents or secrets in support messages.

7. Retention and your choices

Because we do not collect personal data through the app, we do not maintain a personal-data profile about your app usage. Your local documents remain under your control. If you have contacted support and want your correspondence deleted, email us at the address below, subject to any applicable legal requirements.

8. Children’s privacy

JSON Query does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information in support correspondence, please contact us.

9. This website

These JSON Query pages do not include advertising, analytics, tracking scripts, or nonessential cookies. Our hosting provider may process technical request information needed to deliver and secure the website. Following an external link, including the Mac App Store link, takes you to a service governed by its own privacy practices.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the app or its practices. We will publish the revised policy here and update the date above.
